How Your Home Can Have a Wintry Look
Decorating your home at Christmas can be beautiful during the Christmas season. But there is the time to pack it all away until the next year.
Did you know that during the Winter season this season is a perfect time to keep a wintry theme in your home? Winter can be a drab time of year, so warm up areas in your home and incorporate these winter ideas!
First, begin by looking around your home for items you already have to accomplish a winter look.
Items with a warm, cozy tone can be included. Think of warm, white objects, such as a blanket or a soft throw which can be draped over a sofa or chair.
Incorporate any pieces of silver that you inherited from your parents or grandparents in your winter design.
Christmas vs.winter theme Design
There are similarities in these two seasons: Christmas and Winter
The festive, traditional reds and greens of Christmas will be packed away. Keep out other materials for winter such as artificial greenery that may have a bit of “frost”, “ice” or “snow” on the branches.
Pack away the Santas, artificial Christmas tree, manger scene, etc.
Focus on keeping candles, add additional lighting (lamps) to add extra warmth during the cold, dreary days of winter.
Keep any pinecones from Christmas out and display them in a bowl - a silver bowl, for example.
Tablescape idea - Use pinecones nestled on a bed of artificial greenery with candles and a woodsy theme china pattern placed on a champagne gold charger.
During the winter season, we recommend mixing natural wood tones with all of the silver, white, and creams to add warmth and texture. Add touches of soft, warm brown tones such as a brown tablecloth on the dining room or breakfast table.
Keep it simple. Avoid making your home look like a retail store with too much on “display.”
Have fun in the process!
